Ok, so you’re hearing all the buzz about Essential Oils. I had heard of them for YEARS and never cared to look into them. Then out of nowhere I decided to just try them. So I did some research after having many questions myself. Hopefully I can help save you some time (and money) in your Essential Oil journey too.
WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS? – “Essential Oils are the “life force” of a plant and distributed among its flowers, leaves, bar, stems and roots, These oils protect the plant from insects and other herbivores, from bacteria, molds, fungi and micro-organisms. They also help to heal infected wounds. These unique characteristics make essential oils beneficial to humans. A single oil may contain hundreds of constituents that are molecularly aligned in exactly the right manner to trigger a number of responses in the human body. Essential oils are used by chiropractors, aromatherapists, reflexologists, massage therapists and others interested in alternatives to prescription drugs.” – www.oiltestomonials.com
WHY HAVENT WE HEARD ABOUT THEM BEFORE NOW?
Being unaware of their existence and healing power myself, history teaches us that they have been around for thousands of years. Going all the way back to the Bible, are listed multiple oils that were used for healing, anointing and spiritual practices. Think about the three wise men bringing Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to the Christ child. The ancient Egyptian used them as purification and embalming rituals. Oils like cinnamon, clove, and lemon were highly valued as antiseptics hundreds of years before the development of today’s laboratory -developed medicines. In clinical practice, essential oils have been shown to have a profound influence on the central nervous system, helping to reduce or eliminate pain and release muscle tension. Today, we find synthetic essential oil ingredients in soaps, cleaning agents, cosmetics, skin care, food sadly, in the industry of health and wellness. When the oils are extended and adulterated for commercial use, their therapeutic biochemical structure is destroyed, making them useful only as a perfume. However, the chemical structure of a pure essential oil can rapidly penetrate cell membranes, travel throughout the body, and enhance cellular function. For health professionals who have used pure, therapeutic grade essential oils on nations , it is very clear that there is a powerful life force inherent in the substances, which gives them an unmatched ability to interact with cells in the human body. Many people believe that essential oils are God’s medicine for mankind and will provide critical medical solutions in the future. Essential oils could very well be the missing link of modern health care, bringing allopathic and holistic practices together for optimal health in the 21st century. – adapted from Essential Oils Desk Reference
OK SO WHY YOUNG LIVING?
Gary Young the founder of Young Living is a pioneer in bringing the healing power of essential oils back to the 21st century. He started his research in 1985, and decided to grow these healing plants and trees on his own farms so he has control over knowing everything about the property and where the oils come from. He even uses his own oils to control any pests in his crops. This was key for me. He knows where the plants come from from all the way from the seed. Then in the oil extracting process of distilling, he only distills the plants once….resulting in the most powerful living membranes that are then bottled, sealed and shipped to you. There is no third party or multiple distilling process nor any other fillers or ingredients added to the pure oil. Making these the right oils for me. I had tried several other oil companies with beautiful smelling products with little impact to my ailments. I knew if they were going to work, I needed to go with the company who had been around the longest and someone I could trust the process of their product.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF THEY WILL WORK?
You have to try them! Also, you have to read the testimonies of thousands of people who have used, tried and found amazing results with them. You can see for yourself here http://www.oil-testimonials.com/2222908 If you want to try something, send me an email and I will be happy to share my wholesale discount with you. heather.grilliot@gmail.com
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO BUY FIRST?
I started out with the Premium Starter Kit you can read all about that. I love this because although there are over 86 Single oils and 70 Blends, I can tell you that these 11 oils with the exception of like one or two are my most used, go to oils.
WHY SHOULD I BECOME A WHOLESALE MEMBER?
This is the way to get your oils at 24% off retail price! Always awesome to get this discount. As you use the oils and you share your testimonials with friends and family, you have the OPTION {100% OPTIONAL!} of earning commissions when others join and purchase Young Living oils. There is NEVER any obligation to buy a certain amount or ever share YL with others. Never!
WHY DO I HAVE TO ENTER MY SSN? I’M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT…
I wasn’t at first either. But let me explain how this works. Gary Young is so interested in in helping out people with the healing power of his oils, he is also interested in helping out everyone financially. By signing up as a Wholesale customer you can get the perks of buying the Kit and getting 24% off your future purchases. Let me tell you, it is hard NOT to talk about them. They are going to impress you beyond your expectations…at least for me they did. As soon as you begin telling your friends and family about them, you an send them your link and they can sign up. I just really want to use oils myself. Do I ever have to sell Young Living products?
This is fine! There is NO obligation at all to sell oils when you join as a wholesale member. However, if you ever change your mind, you can jump right in and the sky is the limit. I personally choose to just share it online or with friends who ask me about it first. It is a no-pressure kind of thing!
Are you sure there are no monthly order requirements?
There is NO, zilch, zero, REQUIREMENT. {<- finally! a company that gets it!!}! To retain an active ‘wholesale member’ account, you have to place one 50PV {approx. $50} minimum order per year. If you miss that deadline, you can reactivate your account by calling Young Living Customer Care with a 100PV (point volume) order. Sometimes, as a promotion, they even waive this minimum order requirement to reactivate. But again, this is just to keep, what YL calls, “active status.”
If someone wants to join Young Living through me, what do I give them?
When you join, you will be assigned your own ‘wholesale member number’ to give to your friends and family who are interested in joining as well.
Is there a way to save even more money?
Yes! The Essential Rewards program offers reduced shipping, generous credit for free oils & more! Plus each month there are great promotions for free oils when you place an Essential Rewards order. I did not do this when I started, but now I do because it works for me! Plus, I love free stuff, and I am getting plenty of it.
What is the catch?
There is none. Period. To be clear, again, I do make a commission from the company when you make your purchase. That motivates me to share, of course, but the main reason I share Young Living oils is because I love them, they work and they have blessed our family. Thank you for enrolling as a ‘wholesale member’ via my links!
How do I get these oils for my family?

Usage Questions: (Taken from the Young Living website)
I’m new to essential oils. How are they used?
Each bottle of Young Living essential oil is labeled with directions for how that oil can be used. Please consult with the product label for appropriate use directions. You can also ask questions in the Lemon Aid Library.
What is a carrier oil, what does it do, and why should I use it?
A carrier oil is a vegetable oil such as coconut oil or grapeseed oil that can be used to dilute EO. Carrier oils ensure that EOs applied topically are comfortable. Dilution with a carrier oil does not dilute the effect of the EO, and prevents waste due to excessive application. Vegetable shortening, butter, margarine or petroleum derivatives (petrolatum jelly) should never be used as carrier oils.
What is a hot oil?
“Hot oils” are oils that, when applied to the skin, can cause a hot or burning sensation. YL recommends using a patch test procedure prior to first use. To perform a patch test, apply 1-2 drops of EO to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area of skin over the course of 1-2 hours for any noticeable reaction; usually reactions occur within 5-10 minutes. If you experience a hot or burning sensation or if you develop a rash, add a carrier oil to the affected area as often as needed. Examples of “hot” oils include cinnamon, clove, lemongrass, peppermint, oregano, thyme, Exodus II, and Thieves.
What if I experience skin discomfort or irritation?
Stop using the EO, and apply carrier oil to the affected area. Never use water to flush the oil. If a rash occurs this may be a sign of detoxification; drink adequate water to encourage the release and removal of body toxins. Toxins present in petrochemical based soaps and skin care products, detergents and perfumes may trigger some of the detoxification reactions. Consider discontinuation of these agents if a reaction occurs. Before using the EO again, perform a patch test (see above) and dilute with carrier oil as needed. Water drives oil into the skin and the eyes. If EO gets in your eye, flush with carrier oil to alleviate any discomfort. Discomfort should be alleviated within minutes. If eye discomfort does not subside within 5 minutes, please seek medical attention. Be aware that some documents suggest diluting the oil with water. YL suggests that you dilute with carrier oil to ensure that discomfort is alleviated as quickly as possible.
Can essential oils be applied to sensitive areas?
Do not use oils in sensitive areas such as eyes, ears, genitals and mucous membranes!
How often can essential oils be applied? How much do I use?
Please follow the label instructions. The idea of “if a little is good, a lot is better” is not always correct. Essential oils are very potent and powerful– start low and go slow. In most cases 1-2 drops are adequate and using more may waste product. Depending on the EO you can gradually build up to 3-4 uses per day if desired. Excessive use of essential oils may cause your body to detox.
Can essential oils be used during pregnancy or while nursing?
As with any medical condition it is strongly recommended that, prior to use of essential oils, you seek the advice and recommendation of a competent, trained health care advisor who is experienced in EO usage. It is generally recommended to avoid overuse and excessive use of Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea), Sage (Salvia officinalis), Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare), Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), and Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) as well as the blends and supplements that contain these oils.
Can essential oils be used on children?
Many EOs are appropriate for use with children, and they should be diluted prior to use. Some YL products are pre-diluted with carrier oil as indicated on product label and are intended for direct application on children. Children generally respond well to EO, and use of a carrier oil is recommended. One-2 drops of EO such as SleepyIze, RutaVala, Gentle Baby and Peace & Calming may be diluted in carrier oil and applied to the bottom of the feet.
How does exposure to sun affect essential oil use?
Some EOs, especially citrus oils, contain natural molecules that react with sunlight (UV light) and cause a sensitivity reaction. All YL EOs and oil blends that contain these compounds are labeled with a warning to avoid sun/UV light for 12 to 48 hours after applying. Caution should always be used when starting to use a new oil: use patch testing (see above), dilute and apply the oil to skin that is protected from sun/UV exposure to reduce the risk of sensitivity. YL beauty and cosmetic products are formulated to remove sun-sensitizing agents to reduce the risk of sun sensitivity.
Can essential oils interact with prescription medications?
If you have a disease or medical condition, or if you are using a prescription medication, it is recommended that you consult with a health advisor who has experience with EOs prior to using an EO. Seek the advice of the prescribing physician and a pharmacist about potential interactions between the medication(s) and the essential oil(s).
I am sharing stories on the research I have done and the testimonies of how I have seen essential oils work for myself and loved ones on this essential oil journey. I am confident in Young Living and the purity of the oils that I am using. However, I am not trying to take the place of your certified medical professional and do not take responsibility for your health.
